Hi guys,
Back in 2021, I joined my new job and I forgot to enroll for the company-sponsored health insurance plan. Due to that, I had to enroll via the Baltimore, MD healthcare marketplace.
I got a “BlueChoice HMO Young Adult” plan to keep costs low.
For 2022, I remembered to make sure I enrolled in the company insurance.
To cancel my Carefirst insurance, I had to mail a form. I mailed that back in December and it still hasn’t processed. I’ve been charged to pay the monthly insurance cost for the month of January.
This is ridiculous. It should have asked if I wanted to re-enroll.
The customer service agent when I called said I can just elect to NOT pay the January bill. He stated that Carefirst and other Obamacare-level plans do not report to the credit bureaus for missed payment. Is this true?
