If I have a job that offers health insurance, but the family income falls in the range where my kids qualify for CHIP and me as an adult make too much for medicaid for myself, is there a law that I don’t need to add my kids on my work health plan and they get medicaid and I just have the insurance for myself? A girl at my old job said she was using the job’s insurance plan but her kids were on medicaid and I didn’t understand how that could be, but now I know what CHIP is and they’ll qualify for it if I’m working in addition to my husband’s salary. I just don’t know if me having the option to add them to my health plan at work will disqualify them from getting CHIP. Any advice?
