I did an amniocentesis and my fluid sample was sent to a LabCorp to do chromosome analysis. The insurance Aetna covered my amnio procedure, and 4 of 5 lab works but denied the most expensive one (microarray analysis)
All of those services have different CPT codes but are under the same Dx code. I don’t understand why Aetna denied one of them.
Those 5 lab works and medical procedures are ordered by my doctor for a whole package and I didn’t give any option to choose.
The problem is if I ask to change the coding to match the denied one, would this affect other approval ones? And Miacroarry analysis is supposed to be covered by those who did amniocentesis based on Aetna. I don’t know why they denied this.
And The only way to solve this is to fix the code? If I send an appeal, will someone from Aetna go over my medical notes instead of just looking at Dx?
