My company was recently bought by another company, and we’ve just moved on to their insurance plan. My son has ASD and currently goes to ABA Therapy. Aetna had originally approved him for 28 hours a week. Highmark BS (which no one seems to have ever heard of before in my state) said they cover 36k/year for ABA therapy. That ends up working out to only 10 hours a week the way that it is billed. I looked up the laws in Nevada (my state) and from what I can see they require a coverage of 72k/year, PA only requires 36k/year. Does anyone know if an insurance has to follow the regulations based on where the employer or the employee is based?
My previous company, and all of my coworkers, were/are based in Nevada. Our new parent company is based in Pennsylvania, but they have offices in 10+ different states.
TL;DR – do insurances have to comply with the state regulations that an employee or the company are based in?
