Question about In-Network vs Out-Network

I was looking to go to physical therapy and found a place that was in network. I called my insurance company, Aetna, and they said I had to meet my deductible before they start paying. I hear about Out-Of-Network being more expensive but is that really true? If my therapy session costs $100 and my deductible is $5,000, I’m paying $100 out of pocket no matter if the clinic is In-Network or Out-Network. What’s the point of trying to find a place in your network?
