Not happy with Ambetter insurance bought on marketplace..are we stuck for a year?

My husband is on an Ambetter HMO plan bought through the marketplace and it’s horrible. The network is very limited. Our dentist won’t accept the dental insurance (even though we checked they were in network before purchasing, apparently that was not updated or something?!) The Ambetter website and customer service are a joke and we are already running into issues with their system not working when we call.

I purchased a different plan (Blue Cross PPO) since I see doctors regularly and wanted to keep my doctors. It is about double the price he’s paying, but so far it’s fine. At this point he might want to switch to the same one I have.

Is that possible or is he just stuck on Ambetter for a year? He is self employed so we won’t have any qualifying events. What if we canceled his coverage through the marketplace? Can we purchase another plan elsewhere? I have no idea how this works. It’s so hard to find clear information. We are in Illinois if that makes a difference.
