My wife and kids recently received COVID tests. The COVID tests themselves were fully covered, however the fee for the nurse to perform the test was billed to our deductible as was a telephone visit to get the test ordered.
From what I’ve read, the FFCRA and CARES act require the test, administration of the test, and visits that result in a COVID test to be covered with no cost sharing/deductible. Is that accurate? The insurance company customer service had no knowledge of this requirement and simply advised that we file an appeal if we disagree. I plan to do so, but want to make sure I’m not misunderstanding the requirement.
I was also tested (different insurance plan) and everything was covered with no cost sharing.
