Questions on Medicare, Medicaid, QMB, and Extra Help after marriage.

Questions about my Medicare/QMB, Medicaid, and Extra Help coverage after marriage.

So to start, I live in CT and have multiple health issues that prevent me from working. I’ve received medical coverage through Medicare parts A, B, and D, along with Medicaid, QMB, Extra Help, and SNAP (I apologize if any of those are the same thing, still struggling to wrap my head around everything)

I recently got married and believed I’d lose my QMB, Extra Help and SNAP, as my spouse makes a decent salary. I was also told by people at Medicare/Medicaid that I’d lose my QMB, Extra Help, and SNAP after marriage, but when I updated all of my forms I got a letter back saying they reviewed my case and that I still qualify.

I’d love to believe that the paper work I received back is accurate, but after talking with those people it seems like it shouldn’t be.

I joined my spouses insurence in the meantime but it will cost me thousands extra per year just for my prescriptions. I want to cancel my insurence through her but first want to make sure I am still covered.

I guess my questions are these:

-are there other factors that determine QMB/Extra help eligibility other than household income?

-what are the monthly income threshold for married couples?

-should I just trust the form I got back and cancel my wife’s insurence?

Thank you so much in advance.

Age: 34 Zip: 06418 Income: 12,000 +- through SSI Wife’s income pre tax: 70,000.
