Cigna “Open Access” PPO

I got a job offer recently and they’ve sent over the benefits info. We’re trying to decide if I should go with the new insurance or move to my husband’s plan should I accept this job. One big part of this is I LOVE my primary care doctor and do not want to have to leave her clinic if she’s not able to take the new plan.

The description for the offered plan is quite confusing. They refer to them as “Cigna PPO” plans, but then state “all three plans are in Cigna’s Open Access Plus network.”

When I Google around, it seems to me that Cigna PPO and Cigna OAP are different plans? And have different networks? I emailed my clinic about this and they said they accept Cigna PPO but the admin wasn’t sure about Open Access. When I look for my clinic on Cigna’s provider search they show up under Cigna PPO but are not in network for Cigna OAP.

If anyone has experience with Cigna’s naming convention for plans that would be helpful. Thanks!

Edit: Here is the exact language in the benefits package if it helps:

“Cigna is the national medical plan administrator for [employer] U.S.-based staff. [employer] offers

three preferred provider organization (PPO) plans with Cigna: Premier, Standard, and

Consumer-Driven Health Plan (CDHP)/Health Savings Account (HSA).

All three plans are in Cigna’s Open Access Plus network. In this network, you do not

have to select a primary care physician. You can go to any network doctor.

Under the Cigna PPO plans, you and [employer] share the cost for employee and dependent

coverage….”
