Hi. I haven’t been on this subreddit before, so I apologize in advance if this is a common question. About a month ago, I went to the dentist for x-rays and a routine cleaning. As far as I know, everything was normal, and this procedure should be covered by my insurance. The dentist didn’t mention the need for any additional procedures, and I didn’t have any cavities filled or anything like that.
I just received a claim denial for “periodontal scaling and root scaling.” I couldn’t possibly have consented to this as I had never in my life heard of it before and had to look it up to even understand what the claim denial was about. Is there any way to not have to pay this bill? Should I call my dentist? If he performed this procedure, it’s not something I expected or was at all aware of. It makes me feel so stupid that I don’t understand how this works or how to fix it.
