Health insurance coverage coming up that you don’t have

Hi, hi! This is a long one and I apologize if any of it is confusing. It is confusing for me too lol. I am pretty annoyed and have no idea who to reach out to for help at this point. Okayyyy, so this has been an ongoing issue for me for more than 5 years now!

I always come up as having health insurance with another carrier causing my actual health insurance to deny my claims. It’s been ongoing since 2016ish. It usually happens when my sister gets a new job and gets health insurance through her employer. Even though we have different names and obviously different social security numbers, for some reason, somewhere, it pops up that I have her health insurance. I call the health insurance that I “apparently” have that I am not aware of and they say I’ve never been insured by them. Once my sister calls, she verifies that all her information is correct — including her social security number — and all her info is in fact correct. We are twins and most of our information is the same, except for our first name and our social is almost the same also.

So I guess my question is this: Has this happened to any of you on here? If so, what do you do to stop this madness? I have had to postpone lab tests before because I suddenly come up as uninsured, I have had bills sent to collections, and even though my insurance is informed that I, in fact, am not insured by another carrier, I still have to wait until they receive a letter, the letter is processed, and then maybe 10 days later, I can actually see my doctor or have a bill paid. It is extremely frustrating especially when I have had to do anything that was time-sensitive. SOS, HELP!!n even though after verifying all the information, they had her information and not mine. We are not sure why this is happening and one of the many people I spoke to today laughed and said this is something that may happen for the rest of our lives because we have the same last name and date of birth. I wanted to be like aww, it would be funny if you want to pay my bill every time I get sent a new bill but held my tongue LOL.

I’m just sick of waiting to be re-insured even though my insurance company is verbally informed by the other insurance company that I have never been insured by the insurance that comes up under my name and that the person that is actually insured is my sister. SOS, HELP!
