My insurance is awful.

i’m desperate for any help i can get, please.

i have insurance through my employer. it is UMR health insurance and they use Elixir for their prescription insurance.

the health plan is have is called “United Health Care HDHP CDHP $4000 with HSA”

backstory: i have ADHD very severely. i also have binge eating disorder. i am prescribed 30mg vyvanse (with the intention of maxing out my dosage to 70mg per my dr). this treats my ADHD + the ED. it’s basically the perfect pill.

my insurance claims they “cover” it, but not until i reach my $4k deductible. this leaves me with an out of pocket cost of $343 per month for my medication. i cannot afford this. i have the manufacturer’s coupon that saves me $60 and i have applied for the manufacturer patient assistance program, no answer yet.

my prescriber does not want to change my meds, due to vyvanse being the only FDA approved treatment for BED. but my insurance won’t cover any ADHD medication until my deductible is met, so i guess it doesn’t really matter.

is there anything i can do or my dr can do to get them to cover this, at least a little? please help.
