Twenty-three years ago we had a dream to retire very young and travel the world. We saved every penny we could to make it possible and it will actually happen! Retirement and world travel at age 45! We have worked out a plan to be in the US only about 4 months a year and not remain in any other country more than three months. This will allow us to keep US residency and avoid foreign taxes.
However, we have not figured out health insurance. Medicare is a long ways away. An ACA compliant plan is so expensive when we will not even be able to use it 8 months of the year. Of course if we don’t have it, we will be penalized. We are having a hard time making a cost benefit vs risk calculation. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
