How Can I Appeal My Doctor’s Office To Get Them To Send the Claim Correctly?

There is a kind of a weird situation at my doctor’s office. Basically, you/your insurance can get therapy for a more reasonable price by seeing student therapists (who I don’t think have NPIs/Licenses) because it’s a teaching place, so the overseer guy is the technical provider.

My student therapy person was a social worker changing professions, thus had some credentials in his own right, and left my practice in August, which is when I stopped seeing him, and he’s now at another practice where he has an NPI and all that… but this is besides the point as it’s not under my insurance, he didn’t have an NPI then (as far as I’m aware) but either way it was supposed to bill under the supervisor guy, as he was the technical provider.

The docs office keeps sending it under the student with his new NPI he got after he left. I’ve told them and told them, and they keep saying “Okay, I’ll send it in under the supervisor, you are right.” And then they send it in under the student again, and obviously it is denied. It’s not the insurance’s fault, they have to deny it. But no matter what I say, I keep getting random claims from years ago that have been in limbo, that say my insurance denied and now I’m on the hook.

Usually they say “Okay, I’ll take it off and resend,” when I call. But either they don’t, or they resend the same way and it comes back to me. I have documentation that I told them and they said okay and said they would resend. What can I do? They keep sending it back to me saying I owe for it.
