I had surgery back in June 2020 and today (Feb 2022) I got a call from the provider that there was an audit done and their 3rd party billing did not properly send bills out and I owe $6,000+ for said surgery and office visit. The billing rep said they can provide a 50% discount for me. I have their billing phone number in my contacts so I know it was from them and they sent me the EOB, but can they seriously come back almost 2 years later and ask for this? I’m in California. Now I have to contact my old insurance provider who I no longer have as I do not have access to that account and can see what was the max out of pocket for out of network services.
