Has anyone else been asked by Covered CA to prove their income? I received in the mail, 2x such requests – one from CoveredCA and one from my county “Dept of Public Social Services”. Its a bit confusing, but they seemingly ask for similar, but different things – with both focusing on proving my income level.
Long story short, I left my job to start my own business in November of 2021. Thus, I have no income at the current time (and perhaps for the foreseeable foture as I build my business up).
CoveredCA seems to want a detailed profit/loss statement to prove income, while my local county seems ok with a sworn statement attesting to my income level.
Couple questions. Why two similar yet different requests? Seems like CA and my county are not on the same page. Second, any concerns submitting a profit/loss statement with big expenses? I’ve spent around $20k so far on professional fees and rent, against zero revenue. Is there a cap on expenses that can be reported?
Thank you all.
