[Ongoing Saga Update] Provider Keeps Stacking On Bills, Insurance is Saying They Were Processing them Wrong All the Time

So some of y’all probably recognize this story. It’s an update to see if anyone can help.

When I started getting therapy the office told me it was billed under the “provider” which was like the dude that oversaw the more student or in training type therapists. They assured me I would be covered. I went to therapy for about 1.5 years, and then my student type dude left, so I stopped going.

6 months later the doc office started putting huge charges on my account for completely random old appts, a bunch of them didn’t go through and they never alerted me or anything. Since most of them went through fine, I hadn’t checked on every single date, in retrospect I should have.

Anyway I’ve called the provider a bajillion times and been like “I think what’s wrong is you are filing it under this name and not the overseer provider guy.” And they were like “yes, that is what is wrong, these charges will be taken off.” But then they aren’t, and new ones are added.

I finally called the insurance and they’re kind of acting like the provider was billing all of the APPROVED ones wrong, and that they weren’t supposed to file them that way.

Now I’m scared to death. I was told the appointments were covered with my insurance, and when they seemed to all go through okay I didn’t think anything of it. But now I’m terrified that they were putting these in wrong, and now the insurance company will go back through and deny all the old claims. Then I will owe tens of thousands. Will I be on the hook for all of the “pending” appointments and the old ones too?
