Insurance says I owe on COVID testing

My partner and I were exposed to COVID back in October and went to a lab to get tested several times over the course of a few weeks. I thought the testing was completely covered by my insurance (my fault for not checking carefully). I received a notification that my claims had been processed months later and the insurance is showing that I owe hundreds of dollars. I spoke with a rep (at my insurance company) about this and she said yep, that’s what you owe. When I spoke to the lab, they stated that I don’t owe anything as this testing is covered by the CARES act. I called my insurance company back and they said they’d look into it. They’ve reduced the amount I owe by a little bit since then, but not the entire amount. I haven’t received a bill in the mail, but I’m worried this will go to collections and affect my credit. Has anyone had any experience with this and how did you resolve it?
