1000$ min. Deductible

In contract talks with a company, we currently have no minimum deductible. Hmo. Co-pays are 40$ visits, 55$ specialists, 250 em.

The new deal is the same, except now has a 1000$ min. Deductible. But the company is saying that it’s only for hospital stay. That we would pay 1000$ deductible, plus the 250$ Co pay. Only in the event you are hospitalized.

My understanding of 1000$ min was visits, specialists, etc has to be 1000$ out of my pocket before insurance picks up anything.

Question is, am I wrong, is there such a coverage, or is the company confused in their understanding?

I tried to ask for a HDHP plan, so we could get a HSA, but the company wouldn’t even entertain the topic. The company said they have a HSA for the non union employees, and then preceeded to explain to me FSA. So I lack confidence in their understanding.
