My wife is due for our second child in April. We currently have HMO insurance through my wife’s employer. We planning to switch to PPO w/ her employer when the baby arrives because this is a qualifying event. I am planning on going on their family plan as well. We will be delivering at an in-network hospital for both the HMO and PPO plans.
When does this insurance “switch” take place – will her delivery be billed to her HMO plan or the new PPO plan? Both plan are through BCBS IL.
