Hello everyone. I am changing employer and the options for healthcare they have are way better than my existing company (which was just one selection of an HMO plan), so I’m not sure how to decide which one is best.
My options are:
HSA-based PPO Deductible / OOP – $1400 / 4000 Office Visits – 90% after deductible Company contributes $625 to HSA
Traditional PPO Deductible / OOP – $250 / $2500 Office Visits – $25/40 Not HSA eligible
Everything else is almost identical and the employee cost for both is pretty similar. I’m thinking that the HSA one seems like a better “deal” despite the higher deductible and OOP but I do also like the fact that the traditional plan has copays pre-deductible rather than co-insurance.
I assume the “90% after deductible” means I would pay for the entire amount of a doctor’s visit up to $1400? When I’ve seen previous EOB, this charge usually seems pretty high even for a simple office visit so it seems that the plan with the co-pays may more cost effective over the year?
