Hello,
I started a new job which provides Anthem Blue Cross through a broker named McSig. They provide the only plans available to me. My spouse’s employer (different) also uses McSig, and is her only option. McSig will not allow me to cover my wife under a family plan, nor vise versa.
My Wife’s insurance is much more expensive, and I would like to cover her under my plan. She is essentially being forced to cover herself at 500 a month, while my family option is only 230. As a side note, her family option is almost 2,000 out of pocket a month.
We are both state government employees with unions. Hers is a teachers union, mine is a very small managers union. In California.
I probably know the answer to these questions, but I wanted to ask anyway
1) Is this legal?
2) Is there anyway around this?
3) What type of pressure could I apply to get this changed?
Thank you for your time
