I just received a bill for $100 for a COVID test. The test was done at CVS in November 2020. The lab that processed it is apparently out of my network, and their address is in California.
My insurance company is telling me that the provider waited too long to file the claim, so they won’t cover it. My insurance company told me the cut-off for out of network provider claims is 12 months.
Do I have any legal recourse here? How can a provider sit on a claim for 15 months? Then I get stuck with the bill? Something doesn’t feel right about this. I had another COVID test done in January 2021, and my insurance company said there was no claim filed for that either, so now I’m expecting a second $100 bill to show up as well. This is so frustrating.
