Besides “qualifying events,” which I don’t qualify for, is there really no way to get non-marketplace insurance outside of open enrollment? Government-overseen plans, fine, I guess… But private companies only doing business in a little window at the end of the year? It seems absurd. I get that they don’t want people jumping on-board only when they need insurance, but wouldn’t that problem be pretty well negated by a 1-2 month waiting period before the insurance kicks in, which I believe already exists?
