Not sure if my situation is a glitch in the website, or the result of a non-intersecting Venn Diagram. I signed up for the health care market place in New York State, and it does not list any plans for me.
The site says I am eligible for Medicaid. The “Plan Name” reads:
Regular Medicaid: Some people must stay with regular Medicaid and cannot join a health plan. This includes people with other full benefit health coverage, people who can get Medicaid only after spending some of their own money for medical needs (spend down), and people who are only eligible for family planning services. In addition, immigrants who do not meet the immigration requirements are only eligible for emergency Medicaid service and cannot join a managed care plan.
However, there are no actual plans to choose from. If I click the “Pick a New Plan” button, it is an empty list, i.e. no list at all. So, I am not sure if I actually enrolled in anything. I do not see a bona fide definition of “Regular Medicaid.”
My COBRA (costing me $800/month) is expiring in a couple of months, so I need to start doing research. This situation is not helping much.
I am officially retired at 63 to start collecting Social Security in April 2022. I will make roughly $15K this year on Social Security. I added in all my other income information, like some possible extra income from dividends and capital gains, $3K, and subtracted some deductions of $7K into my IRA, and $3650 into my HSA, which brings my income for this year pretty low, and therefore the site says I am Medicaid eligible. Yet, there are no plans to choose from.
Am I doing something wrong?
