I’ve been working in New York for a year post-graduation, and am suddenly hitting a wall with healthcare. I’ve been on my parents’ insurance plan which is unfortunately a New England-specific plan. It was fine through college since the university health services was virtually free, but I get recurrent UTIs. I went to an urgent care a few times this year, and now 6 months later, I get a notification that my insurance is denying the claims filed and I owe over $1,000. I can’t get my insurance to cover any PCPs up here since no one is in network, and they even denied my last claim with a referral from my in network PCP back where I grew up. I’m pretty sure I have a bladder infection now since the antibiotics prescribed from my last urgent care visit didn’t work, and I’m freaking out. I can’t afford to go back to an urgent care but there’s also no one here that takes my insurance / my insurance won’t deny a claim from. I’m also about to move so it doesn’t make sense to get a new plan here (I was only supposed to be working here a few months). How do I deal with this?
