I have Cigna Health insurance and went to an in-network provider for a New Patient Appointment. Today I received a notice saying that one of the services was not covered because it was “not medically necessary”.
The services were: 87661 Infectious agent detection by nucleic acid; Trichomonas vaginalis, amplified probe technique 87481 Infectious agent detection by nucleic acid; Candida species, amplified probe technique
The reasons the letter said that they denied the service were: – no reliable proof that this test is medically necessary
I’m a teacher and literally don’t have time for this 🤦🏾 My PCP also did not inform me that this service would not be covered and I don’t recall signing anything for it
I would like to appeal this decision but not sure how to best go about it.
