New job has VEBA, am I uninsured for the first 60 days?

I’ll probably put in my two weeks at my old job Monday. My new job has a health insurance program funded through something called VEBA. Money accrues in a VEBA account ($5/hr) and I can use that to pay my premium. But until a certain amount accrues I am uninsured. How can I find out when my current health insurance ends after quitting with out letting HR know I am quitting? If we jump on my wife’s work insurance am I essentially forfeiting $10,400/per year in free money for health insurance?
