Hi. I am potentially in the process of changing employers and my new employer doesn’t use a co-pay insurance plan. They use a coinsurance plan instead. I haven’t dealt with this type of insurance before. I’m trying to figure out if it’s good insurance or bad insurance. I’ve read a few articles but I’m still not swayed that it’s a good plan. Essentially it is a 15% coinsurance plan across-the-board for almost any benefit. No charges for general doctor visits and preventative care. 15% for specialists, ER, and all that. The maximum annual deductible for a family is around $10,000. Does this sound like a good plan? Any basic advice or questions are welcome and appreciated.
