Medical provider chose self-pay and didn’t tell me

My medical provider chose self-pay for me when I have health insurance (Tricare). They did this, without my consent, because they knew Tricare wouldn’t cover the services. I don’t know which services they believe Tricare wouldn’t cover. The appointment was for podiatry. When I left the office, I thought I had paid for the 50% of the orthotics that Tricare wouldn’t cover. Now they’re telling me that I paid for PB Same Day Services and I still need to pay $360 for the orthotics.
