Hey everyone, I’m looking for advice for my mom. She lost her health insurance a few months ago because my stepdad retired, he’s on Medicare but she’s 60 so isn’t able to yet. His employer offered a plan that would be almost $600 a month (cobra I believe?)there is no way they can afford that. He is getting a little over 3000 a month. She hasn’t worked in years and is unable to (denied disability). We live in the state of Illinois and I’m not sure if she’s eligiable for Medicaid, from what I’ve read income wise I don’t think she is but I’m not really sure. I put their info in on healthcare.gov and her premiums would be 650 or more, most being over $700. She has a good amount of health issues and recently fell and thinks she fractured her tailbone and can’t go to the dr or hospital. Anyone have any suggestions? She can’t go years without health insurance but there is also no way they can afford much each month bc they’re barley paying the bills as it is. Thank you !
