I have NJ government insurance, Medicaid—NJFamilyCare. Im 24 and I qualified for it all these years because I was working off the books/in school. Now I’ve moved to NY, and am paid on the books. I haven’t changed my license, address or anything yet and I visit my doctors on televisit or drive to jersey. I only make about 37k/y after taxes, but I’m above the threshold for Medicaid in both states so I don’t think I’ll be reinstated although I did just send my application in, for NJ.
Now I’m **just newly pregnant, and I just had one doctors appt so far, but it’s 50 miles away from where I live. It’s the closest doctor that takes my insurance. Im due late November/early December, but my health insurance runs out in December. Im not married, and my boyfriend is still on his health insurance.
Im looking for some kind of guidance on what steps I should take in order to not have a lapse in coverage, do I need to cancel NJ insurance and pay for insurance out of pocket in NY?
