I’m in California, if that matters. Background, I’m currently on long term disability, getting payments from my previous employer, for a medical condition I’m receiving treatment for. I got an email from my therapy provider stating my insurance “has been having some trouble deciding whether or not to charge you a copay. At first they were paying your claims in full but now they have asked for your copays back (assigning them to you)” for dates going back to Feb. I have statements from the insurance saying these dates were paid in full. The provider says I now owe about $160, which I don’t have because my disability payments barely covers my health insurance and l have very little extra and this was unexpected since I thought it was paid. Is this a thing that happens? Do I have any recourse? Any other suggestions? Thanks so much for any help.
