My wife delivered our third child in 2021 while covered with a gold plan through Covered California. The SOB states that delivery is charged at $600/day. The bill shows this charge for both her and the newborn, separately. I’ve been given different explanations for this from the insurance carrier, from “You signed up for coverage of the newborn improperly, your fault” originally to now “That’s how it’s done, one bill for you, one for the child”. The story changed after I had coveredca escalate an issue and contact them to dispute that. Other than the experience of our first two deliveries not incurring this double charge, I have little to work with.
Is anyone able to look at this SOB and verify that our newborn would see their own charges? I searched this subreddit before posting this and didn’t find anything specific to this question but I did find some other semi related discussions but that still left me confused. Sorry for any redundancy.

The SOB link at the top will download the PDF of the coverages but it triggers a download so I didn’t want to direct link to that.
Thank you for your insight!
