Purchase insurance for a month?

Hello,

37/M

54155 Zip Code

I lost my job a few weeks ago and have Health Insurance through the end of this month. I’m really close to securing a new job but that would probably start in May and I’m assuming I wouldn’t be on their insurance until 6/1. I’m good on medications until then but obviously if something major happened I’d be screwed. I did fill out paperwork for Healthcare.gov and it seems most ‘cheap’ plans are close to $700 a month with a high deductible. Is it worth doing this just for a month or should I just ‘tough it out’ until 6/1? If I got in a car accident, would my auto-insurance cover medical costs?

Thanks!
