Hi all! I’m an incoming medical student and I’m just a little confused on how to find a healthcare plan for the next 3 months. I’ve always had insurance through my parents or employer so I’m not sure what to do as an unemployed 27 y.o.
For more context, my medical insurance through my employer expires June 1 and my med school insurance won’t likely kick in until August 22. I have two questions:
How should I approach this gap? I have very limited funds so i don’t want to get anything crazy expensive but I also do need to refill meds.
Some medical students have suggested Medicaid. Would it be possible for me to just get Medicaid through the next few months and then decide then if I want to keep it or go with the medical school’s incredibly overpriced health insurance?
Would love any and every suggestion. Thank you so much 🙂
