Hi all!
My mom left her job as a teacher in 2021, thus my family losing all of our coverage. We missed the open enrollment due to busy work schedules conflicting, but are all eligible for special enrollment on the government’s healthcare site. The problem arises when my parents tried to include me to their prospective plan.
I am 24 and have been filing my taxes dependently since 2020–I’m not sure if that has anything to do with it. I am between jobs and currently have no monthly income, but I do have student/private loan payments coming up. I will start working a summer job again in June and will prospectively move into a full-time job at the end of the year (September/October). I do not have an estimate of salary for that yet. My parents combined make about $52,000, and we live in South Carolina.
I literally feel like such a child because I don’t know what to do. I’ve looked at insurance for myself, and I don’t even know if I can afford it right now. I welcome all suggestions, and I would appreciate being pointed in any direction.
