Got a new job in the Midwest that pays $50k. I have been on state coverage for years so I am completely out of touch with how health insurance typically costs and covers. If you have resources, send them. Please help.
For background, I’m in my 30s and have a chronic condition. I visit the emergency room a few times a year, see specialists, and take medication. Not cancer or anything terminal.
My employer is offering:
$88/month
MEC Care Plan – network based minimum essential coverage plan with limited hospital and critical illness benefit
$210
Affordable Care Plan – referenced based pricing The ACP will reimburse Covered Services using the same reimbursement rates as the Federal government under Medicare fee schedules.
-everything is just listed as 100%medicare rate
$244
Silver High Deductible
Aetna PPO
Deductible : $2500 in-network / $5000 out-of-network
Maximum-out-of-pocket : $7000 in-network / $12000 out-of-network
-Everything is listed at 70% in-network
$400
Green Plan
Aetna PPO
Deductible : $2000 / $3000
Maximum-out-of-pocket : $8000/$8000
Roughly $50 copay for most types of doctor visits
Emergency room: 70% in-network
Diagnostic tests 100% covered or $40 outpatient per day
Inpatient hospitalization $250 admission then 70%
Are these as shitty as I think they are? Would it be better to get private insurance? Again, I don’t know what I’m doing.
