Can I get insurance during waiting period to receive benefits at my new job.

I know that you can get temporary health insurance when you are in between coverage, for example, if you leave a job and they drop your coverage and you have to wait a period of time until you can get benefits at your new job. But here’s my situation:

I currently don’t have insurance coverage at my current job. I have an interview tomorrow and I’m hopeful that I will be hired. I’m not sure if I’ll receive insurance coverage on the first day or if there will be a waiting period. Can I get temporary insurance in the meantime if there is a waiting period? Or is that a no because I don’t currently have insurance? I live in Vermont

Also, would this temporary insurance cover dental work? I need to get an expander and Invisalign because my current teeth situation is causing me ear/sinus/balance issues. What about permanent insurance? Does this type of coverage typically cover this type of issue? Or should I not bother and just start applying to have it financed? In other words, is it worth it for me to wait to receive coverage from my new job to have my dental work done? Please help!
