Question on how to fight a bill

My wife had our baby last month and I’ve had some issues with the billing for the baby. Some of the issues were easily resolved by making sure the doctors had our insurance on file. I’m running into one bill that I cannot seem to make headway on and I’m looking for some help.

I got a bill for $50 for the newborn hearing test that they did while mom and baby were still in the hospital. This was the only one I owe a dime on. I called insurance to ask why this was the only bill that applied towards the baby’s deductible and they said it was not billed as “well newborn”, but “inpatient – other”. Apparently the fine text on my schedule of benefits says “deductible does not apply for well newborn care during a covered maternity admission”. I used this info to call the billing representative for the hospital and they said they billed it correctly as newborn. So, I am stuck on what to do. The insurance company seems to know the problem, but the hospital insists what the insurance company says is wrong and it was billed right. Any recommendations? I could just pay the $50, but I shouldn’t have to by principal.
