Hello, I’m completely new to the system but I work in a hospital and apparently have excellent health care coverage.
I have undiagnosed GI issues and went to a specialist with a PCP referral. The specialist ordered about 10 different blood tests and told me to go across the hall to get them done, which I did.
Now I’m freaking out because it occurred to me I should probably check if the tests he ordered are covered BEFORE getting the bloods taken. He also ordered a colonoscopy.
I called my insurance to see if I was covered and they were not helpful and essentially told me to check the procedure codes against the CDP.
How the hell do I make sure that when a doctor orders tests they are definitely covered by my policy? How do I get preauthorisation for the colonoscopy to make sure that is covered?
