I’m a 25 year old diabetic (turning 26 at the end of January) currently on United healthcare Oxford through my mom (they suck). I started a new job 2 weeks ago which has Aetna. Was planning to get the $0 deductible high monthly cost plan. Originally I was gonna switch because my mom’s workplace was possibly closing but now it doesn’t seem that way anymore (?) so I’m debating what to do.
If I switch, I’m gonna have to deal with fighting to get my insulin and meds covered all over again which was pretty much just settled with UHC last month. My mom says I should stay on her insurance until (IF) she loses her job which counts as a qualifying event and will allow me to enroll at my job anytime.
Another factor is sometimes you can’t tell if a job is going to work out for a few months.
Thoughts?
