Moving to New York from Connecticut, on Medicaid right now (Husky Health). What to do about insurance gap?

So I’m about to start a new job in New York at the end of June but my employer says I can only “can choose to sign up to start receiving health insurance after the 42nd day you are hired.” Counting weekends, that comes to August 9th. Which is a pretty long time for me to go without health insurance, given I have a chronic medical condition. I’m on Husky Health insurance in Connecticut (Medicaid). I’ve spoken to my provider and she’s agreed to prescribe me medication for three months, but I’m worried about getting an appointment in time with a new doctor before the meds run out. Does anyone have any ideas about what I should do in my case?

TL;DR: There’s going to be a gap in my health insurance and I don’t know what to do.
