I have been trying to contact my insurance company for days to answer this question but can’t get anyone on the phone. Wondering if anyone can share their experience with this.
Right now it’s just my husband and I on my insurance. I understand that baby is automatically covered the first 30 days. However after I officially add her to the plan, it says it will be “retroactively effective” back to the date of birth.
The deductible is higher on the family plan than it is for just myself and my spouse. We’ve already reached the deductible on my current plan.
My question is, once I add the baby, will the birth and all hospital costs suddenly be subject to the higher deductible that comes along with the family plan, even though those costs were incurred while I was covered under the old plan?
In the USA.
