Aging out of parent’s plan and confused about COBRA extension during pandemic

Turning 26 in May so I’m aging out of my parent’s insurance plan (in Georgia if that matters).

I got the letter on April 5, 2022. My insurance ends May 31, 2022. According to the letter, my last day to elect coverage is August 1, 2022. But I know during the pandemic the cobra deadlines were extended a year, which I’m assuming is still going on (since Biden extended the COVID national emergency in February)?

Does this mean my last day to elect coverage would actually be August 1st, 2023? And if so, what does that mean if I actually do need cobra within that time? For example, let’s say I need it January 2023, would I have to pay the premiums from June to January?
