Why? Well, many clinics will “take” your insurance……..as an out-of-network provider.
Edit: it is also not enough to verify that they take such and such insurance company, one needs to verify that they take your specific plan. Insurance websites also do not always list all doctors that take their plans, so the best way is to contact your insurance directly (phone or message, I always prefer message so there is proof).
It is an uphill battle but I hope this is helpful.
