Please bear with me. I’ve only been learning about Medicare for maybe 2 weeks now as I try to help my sister understand. I’m sorry if I’m not making sense, but I really hope I am. Please let me know if I need any to post anymore information for this to make sense. I’ve made a spreadsheet with the Medicare Advantage plans in my dads zip code and I’m trying to figure out if this other plan would be cheaper in the long end.
So I’m looking at plans in my dads zip code for nursing homes. His current plan (Ascension Complete Seton Access Plus (PPO)) has a $0 premium and says skilled nursing facilities are $0 for day 1-20 and $188 for day 21-100. So would that mean $15,040 for day 21-100? Would that mean it’s about $54,896 for a year? (If $15,040 for 100 days is $150.40 per day, 365 days would be $54,896). I’m looking at another plan (Blue Cross Medicare Advantage Flex (PPO)) that’s $0/day for skilled nursing homes, but there’s a monthly premium of $215.40 as well has the part b premium of $170.10. So that would be $385.50/month or $4,626 a year. If the second plan is $0 with just the premium cost, would that plan be overall cheaper?
(I’m not exactly concerned about prescriptions and such just yet. I’m just trying to figure out the basic costs.)
Please let me know if there’s any information I could add to make this easier!
