Any con to dual insurance? How is it managed by the insured?

I am covered for health and dental under my husband’s insurance, which has a low deductible and great coverage.

I recently started a new job which provides free health insurance with a high deductible plan with and decent dental for about $7/month.

I’m wondering if there is any reason NOT to enroll in dual coverage for either health, dental or both.

I’ve never dealt with dual coverage before. I know that my job’s insurance would be primary, so most everything would go to deductible before hitting secondary. But would the doctor be the one filing with both insurances and managing COB? Or would I be billed and then have to file with secondary (i.e., will I be left carrying a balance before reimbursement)?

Potentially relevant: We recently learned we are pregnant, so there will likely be additional healthcare expenses this year (if things go as planned). There will also be a qualifying life event.

have until June 2 to enroll. Advice would be greatly appreciate!
