Hi,
It’s my understanding that if I’m currently on COBRA, I can keep staying on it even after getting a new job by declining the medical plan provided by a new employer. Suppose that’s correct and I decided to keep COBRA and switch to the new employer’s medical plan 18 months later, is there any pitfalls that I need to be aware of ?
What I’m aware of so far are,
COBRA can be more expensive. Once I decline the new employer’s medical plan, I cannot switch to it until the next open enrollment window. COBRA can last only 18 months.
Is there anything else I need to know ? If I have pre-existing conditions, do I need to be concerned about anything with this plan ?
