AZ – Can’t find a psychiatrist who prescribes Prozac

Hello,

My wife has UHC and has been on Prozac for over 10 years to treat her anxiety. Her primary psychiatrist retired and referred her to another psychiatrist. She went with the new psychiatrist for a bit, but she ended up closing her practice. Now we are trying to find another psychiatrist before her Prozac prescription runs out. She only takes the 20mg capsule and her anxiety is on the low to mild side, but she wants to continue taking it.

She has UHC and has an online account on their website. When we go to “Find Care & Costs” -> “Behavioral Health Directory” -> “Anxiety” it provides a list of providers and facilities that are for “Mental Health Office Visits Without Medication Management – Six Visits”.

This is not what we need at all. We are just trying to find another psychiatrist (with a reasonable deductible) who will be able to prescribe Prozac. I’m not sure what to do right now in order to find medical care for her. I feel like this is a pretty common health issue as well and finding an in-network psychiatrist shouldn’t be this difficult.

I do not want my wife to go too long off Prozac either – she has been consistently on them for over 10 years. What do we do? Please help.
